Prop Martin Castrogiovanni has recovered from broken ribs and will line up in the Italy side to face Scotland at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. The Leicester front-rower had been expected to miss the remainder of the Six Nations championship after injuring himself in the narrow defeat to England last month. However, the 30-year-old has made a swifter than expected recovery and will take his place in the Italian front row alongside Leonardo Ghiraldini and Andrea Lo Cicero at the weekend.

Castrogiovanni is one of six changes from the side comfortably beaten 24-3 by Wales last weekend at the Millennium Stadium. Amongst those recalled by coach Jacques Brunel is scrum-half Edorado Gori who is available again having overcome a knee complaint.

Gori will partner Kristopher Burton in the half-backs, the fly-half retaining his place despite coming in for criticism for his performance in Cardiff. Elsewhere in the back division, Giovambattista Venditti replaces Luke McLean on the right wing, while Tommaso Benvenuti will start at centre. Up front, Simone Favaro drops to the bench with flanker Robert Barbieri taking his place, while Aironi lock Marco Bortolami comes in for Cornelius Van Zyl to earn his 93rd cap. Australian-born lock Joshua Furno could make his Six Nations debut this weekend having been included in the squad – the 22-year-old made his Azzurri bow back in August.

Both teams head into the encounter winless and looking to avoid the ‘woden spoon’. Italy have won six of their 18 encounters against Scotland, who have not emerged victorious in Rome since 2006.

Scotland boss Andy Robinson has made just one personnel change to his side that will do battle with Italy on Saturday. Winger Lee Jones suffered a concussion last time out against Ireland and was ruled out of this weekend’s match as a result. Max Evans – who started in the midfield against the Irish – moves onto the wing to replace Jones with Nick de Luca taking up the number thirteen jersey that he has vacated.

De Luca was forced to pull out of the game against the Irish at the last moment due to a hamstring injury but has made a full recovery. In the only other change to the matchday 22, Bath’s Jack Cuthbert is named among the replacements.

Welcome to the final week of our Six of the Best series, the chance to remind you of some of the most memorable matches associated with a particular Six Nations fixture. This time it comes with a slight twist: not just the best Wales v France games down the years (otherwise some famous Welsh victories in Paris – 1999 (34-33), 2001 (43-35) and 2005 (24-18) – might also have been included), but six Grand Slam deciders between the countries, given the context of Saturday’s momentous encounter in Cardiff.

Wales match against France on Saturday 17th March 2012 is a tough fight.Wales have completed four of their last five Grand Slams against France. Wales team members are really confident that they are going to win the final game (against France). Gethin Jenkins will claim the third Six Nations Grand Slam of his distinguished career if Wales can defeat France in Cardiff on Saturday.

All the Wales team members are mentally and physically ready to face the France challenge.”We’ve been favourites in the last two games we have played this season, and it is not often you can say about a Wales team, not when I have been involved, nyway.”In the past, we haven’t been favourites, we’ve come under the radar to win those Grand Slams, although I don’t think I would ever say we were favourites against France.”The Wales squad enjoyed a day off on Wednesday before reassembling on Thursday, when coach Warren Gatland will name his starting line-up to face France.Gatland’s only anticipated change from the side that beat Italy last Saturday is skipper Sam Warburton’s return at openside flanker, provided he shakes off a knee roblem.

Saturday’s game was being billed as a potential Grand Slam showdown only a few weeks ago, but France slipped off the pace after drawing at home with Ireland and then losing to England in Paris. But Jenkins said of Les Bleus: “They consistently turn up and beat some of the best sides in the world.”They can play great rugby at times, and the loss they had (against England) is only going to spur them on to come over and play well against us.

“We know exactly how tough a challenge it is going to be, and how good they are. They’ve got players who can break you at any time in the game.”We’ve had a good bit of momentum from the World Cup, and now it comes down to one big game, and we need eally to drive it home and get a win.”It will be a red-letter day for one member of the Wales front-row even before kick-off, with hooker Matthew Rees poised to win his 50th cap.

French have wrapped up two of their nine clean sweeps – in 1968 and 1998 – against Wales. Now they are waiting for the victory over wales on Sat 17 March. At this moment France wing Vincent Clerc will not travel to Wales for his team’s final RBS Six Nations clash after sustaining a shoulder injury against England. His absence is one of six changes to the squad that met up before the England match, with Alexis Palisson taking Clerc’s place in the party. With any hope of victory in the tournament dashed by the 24-22 loss, coach Phillippe Saint-Andre has rung the changes for the final match.

Lock Julien Pierre, flanker Fulgence Ouedraogo, scrum-half Dimitri Yachvili, centre Florian Fritz and uncapped full-back Jean-Marcellin Butin are the other new faces for the World Cup semi-finalists.Veteran former skipper Lionel Nallet looks like he has played his last Test match while scrum-half Julien Dupuy, centre Maxime Mermoz and winger Julien Malzieu have also been axed.

There are injury doubts over Thierry Dusautoir (knee), Imanol Harinordoquy (knee) and Julien Bonnaire (elbow).”It’s sort of a page that’s turning,” said Saint-Andre. “We would have liked for the veterans to have an exceptional jubilee Saturday in Cardiff. This isn’t the case.”I wanted to really thank Lionel Nallet regarding his spirit, his professionalism.

“I was lucky to coach him at Bourgoin and again in the France team. He knew that we had a sort of a deal together – if we played a final at Cardiff, he would have continued the adventure. Unfortunately the adventure finishes here.”The younger players learned a lot from him from his commitment to the group and his professionalism as a first team player and substitute.”

The match betting is likely to be close when England host Ireland at Twickenham in the final match of the 2012 Six Nations on Saturday 17th March 2012. The match brings the curtain down on this year’s championships and Ireland will be looking to inflict a fourth successive defeat on England in the Six Nations. England have lost each of the last three meetings with the Irish, including a stunning 24-8 defeat at the Aviva Stadium last season, where Ireland managed to deny England a Grand Slam victory with a dominant display on home soil.

Reigning Six Nations Champions, England, welcome Ireland to Twickenham in this Six Nations Clash. England have made changes to their team after a very disappointing World Cup. Their coaching staff are also in transition. Despite the changes, England made a winning start to their 2012 Six Nations Campaign with wins over Scotland and Italy but fell victim to a late fightback from Wales on March 25th. Their opponents Ireland will be looking for back to back wins against England after beating them 24-8 in Dublin last year. The game also takes place on St. Patrick’s Day, so they will be even more motivated to make Irish celebrations taste even sweeter on this day. The match takes kicks off at 5.00pm on Saturday 17th March 2012.

Sean O’Brien has been recalled to the Ireland team for Saturday’s Six Nations game against England at Twickenham. Flanker O’Brien replaces Peter O’Mahony after what Irish coach Declan Kidney described as “a very tough call”.O’Mahony performed well in the win over Scotland after O’Brien was ruled out of the game with a foot infection.Kidney’s side is otherwise unchanged, with Eoin Reddan and Donnacha Ryan again playing in the absence of injured duo Conor Murray and Paul O’Connell.Rory Best has overcome a slight rib problem and captains the side in the absence of O’Connell.Ryan took a blow to the shoulder against the Scots but has also been named in the starting XV despite taking a limited part in training this week.Best will become Ireland’s most capped hooker when he makes his 59th Test appearance, eclipsing Keith Wood’s milestone of 58.
Ireland have won seven of their last eight Six Nations matches against England, including three of the last four meetings at Twickenham. The contest is likely to decide who finishes runners-up with Ireland ending the competition strongly by thrashing Italy, drawing with France and blitzing Scotland.”I thought Peter (O’Mahony) played really well and it was an absolutely tight selection call, but Sean has trained well and just got the nod,” said Kidney.”England are improving with every match and have won three games on the road, so they will be looking forward to playing at home again.”They had a fine win in Paris, so that will have given them a lot of confidence,” added the Ireland coach.

Wales captain Sam Warburton has been ruled out of Saturday’s RBS Six Nations game against Italy in Cardiff. The open-side’s knee injury means Justin Tipuric starts at seven, although centre Jamie Roberts does start despite his own knee problems. Prop Gethin Jenkins captains Wales even though former skipper Matthew Rees returns to the side, replacing Ken Owens at hooker.Lock Luke Charteris is named on the bench after returning from injury. The 28-year-old had been sidelined with a long-term wrist injury since the end of the 2011 World Cup.

But Charteris returned to action for Newport Gwent Dragons on Saturday in their Pro12 24-14 defeat at home to Munster. Centre Scott Williams, who scored the winning try against England last time out as Wales sealed the Triple Crown, is again among the replacements. His Scarlets team-mate Owens also has to be content with a place on the bench thanks to the return of British and Irish Lion Rees after a calf injury, with Richard Hibbard the hooker to miss out completely.Rees, who last played on 14 January for the Scarlets, packs down between Adam Jones and Jenkins to reform the Lions front-row that took on South Africa in 2009.”Due to injuries to all three players at one time or another we have not been able to field this 2009 Lions front row too often,” said Wales head coach Warren Gatland.

“So, although we are more than happy with the job Ken has done for us, we are giving Matthew the opportunity to make his contribution as the competition reaches its climax.”We are back at the Millennium Stadium in front of our home fans and we need to refocus sharply, after our Triple Crown triumph at Twickenham, if we are to give ourselves the best chance of being in contention for the Championship going into that final weekend against France.

TEAMS

WALES: Leigh Halfpenny (Blues); Alex Cuthbert (Blues), Jonathan Davies (Scarlets), Jamie Roberts (Blues), George North (Scarlets); Rhys Priestland (Scarlets), Michael Phillips (Bayonne); Gethin Jenkins (Blues, capt), Matthew Rees (Scarlets), Adam Jones (Ospreys), Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys), Ian Evans (Ospreys), Dan Lydiate (Dragons), Justin Tipuric (Ospreys), Toby Faletau (Dragons).

REPLACEMENTS: Ken Owens (Scarlets), Paul James (Ospreys), Luke Charteris (Dragons), Ryan Jones (Ospreys), Lloyd Williams (Scarlets), James Hook (Perpignan), Scott Williams (Scarlets).

Italy have responded to their heavy defeat in Ireland by making seven changes to the side for Saturday’s Six Nations visit to Cardiff to face Wales.Australia-born fly-half Kris Burton replaces Tobias Botes, who missed three attempts at goal in Dublin. Scrum-half Fabio Semenzato, wing Mirco Bergamasco and centre Gonzalo Canale return behind the scrum. And Lock Cornelius van Zyl, prop Andrea Lo Cicero and flanker Simone Favaro are added to the forward pack.Fly-half Botes pays the price for an erratic kicking display against Ireland that saw him miss three out of five attempts at goal.

The kicking duties are set to be returned to Racing Metro wing Bergamasco, who has not played for Italy since the 2011 World Cup beacuse of a shoulder injury.Bergamasco, who kicked the winning penalty in a 22-21 victory over France in last year’s championship, will be making his 86th appearance for his country. Before losing to Ireland after fading in the second half, Italy had also fallen to France in Paris and at home to England in this season’s competition.

WATCH LIVE

“Italy will be hoping to find us complacent and with one eye on the French game, but nothing less than victory on Saturday will be accepted by this Wales team or satisfy the nation behind us.”All of that leaves the players themselves brimming with ruthless intent.”Utility back James Hook has recovered from his bout of chicken pox, playing in Perpignan’s 22-17 defeat by Agen at the weekend, and is also held in reserve, meaning fly-half Stephen Jones drops out of the match 22 completely.

Victory at the Millennium Stadium against the Azzurri will keep Gatland’s side on course for a third Grand Slam in eight years, with France the final hurdle to face in Cardiff on 17 March. Wales are unbeaten against Italy at the Millennium Stadium and only Gatland’s men can now win a Grand Slam this year after Ireland ended France’s 100% Six Nations record by holding them to a 17-17 draw in Paris.Italy have beaten Wales in Rome, in 2003 and 2007 , and also held the Welsh in Cardiff in 2006.

Watch North Queensland Cowboys vs Brisbane Broncos NRL Match Live Now

Usually this match-up is in round one of the NRL season and the way our boys played last weekend, maybe we should treat this Friday night as round one of 2012.Everyone can have a bad night and we hope that’s as bad as it gets this year. This week we’re up against our old foes from Brisbane who would be in a very good mood after starting their season with an away win against Parramatta.

The Cowboys’ overall record against the Broncos isn’t flash – our head-to-head with them is the worst we have – but in recent times our team has had some good success at Suncorp. The two-point win last year was our third in seven appearances at Queensland rugby league headquarters and, in fact, we have a better winning percentage there (45.5%) than at Dairy Farmers (43.8%). So there’s reason to feel positive about this Friday night even if it’s hard to find a pundit who’ll tip against Brisbane. The big improvement from the Cowboys – and it’s rare to say this – needs to come in attack.

We’ve only managed 14 points and two tries in our last three NRL matches, and no points at all in our last three halves, which is a huge surprise considering the attacking talents we have in our backline and the depth of ability in the forward pack.

Players like Thurston and Bowen will be just waiting to fix that up and would love nothing better than for it to come against Brisbane. Defensively, the Cowboys were okay against the Titans although coach Henry thinks other teams may have put more than 18 points on us and that we shouldn’t be too happy about that area of the game either. Make sure you keep a close eye on Dallas Johnson on Friday night because he loves knocking over Broncos.

The lock forward averages more tackles at Suncorp Stadium than any player at any venue in NRL history (47.5 tackles per game). The Sheriff has faith in our boys and predicts a 20-16 bounceback win.

South Sydney Rabbitohs v Sydney Roosters Live Stream

WALKING WOUNDED: Rabbitohs superstar Greg Inglis is on track to make a sooner-than-expected return from an ankle injury suffered in the All Stars clash last month. Luke Burgess (ankle) will miss the first two months of the campaign. The Roosters will be without centres Shaun Kenny-Dowall (lacerated kidney) and young-gun Tautau Moga (ankle) for the season opener, while Anthony Cherrington is still a few months away with a knee injury suffered last year.

FORM: The Bunnies lost to Warrington in the annual Return to Redfern match and wrapped their pre-season up with an honest loss to the Dragons in the Charity Shield. New coach Michael Maguire has a strong roster at his disposal so there should be no excuses for the Rabbitohs this season. The Roosters won both of their trial matches against the Bulldogs and competition favourites the Tigers but have been written off by most experts already this season. While the Tri Colours have several game breakers and proven performers on their books, their lack of depth is a serious concern.

WHO’S HOT: England international Sam Burgess was the dominant player on the park in the Charity Shield, scoring two tries and unleashing several barnstorming runs in a brilliant individual display. Bunnies fans will be hoping the back-rower can stay on the field this season after missing most of 2011 with an ankle syndesmosis injury. Tautau Moga and new recruit Daniel Mortimer were arguably the standout performers for the Roosters in the trials, but Moga is injured and Mortimer will start on the bench in Round 1. It’s a big year for the man who beat Mortimer to the No.6 jumper, Braith Anasta, with the veteran off contract this season, while NSW half-back Mitchell Pearce holds the key to the Roosters’ hopes this season.

WE THINK: The Roosters have surprised a few pundits in the pre-season with some decent trial form but the Rabbitohs should have too much firepower for the Chooks in Round 1. The loss of both starting centres Tautau Moga and Shaun Kenny-Dowall leaves the Roosters looking a bit toothless in attack, and if Greg Inglis returns from an ankle injury as expected things could get ugly out wide for the Tri Colours. Roookie half-back Adam Reynolds has big wraps on him but if the youngster struggles under the bright lights then Brian Smith’s charges are a chance to cause an upset. But the Bunnies should get home on the back of a dominant forward pack and superior strike power out wide. Rabbitohs by 10

Watch France vs Ireland Six Nations Match Live Stream Online On 4th March From Stade de France

RBS SIX NATIONS
France vs Ireland
Date : 4 March 2012, Sunday
Time : 15.00 (GMT)
Venue: Stade de France, St. Denis (Paris)
Referee: Dave Pearson (England)
France vs Ireland Rugby Live Stream

Ireland return to Paris on Sunday for their rescheduled Six Nations clash with Les Bleus at a sold out – and much warmer – Stade de France. La Fédération Française de Rugby have announced that the 8000 to 9000 tickets that were reimbursed after the postponement of the original game on February 11, have all been sold.

While many Irish fans who made the trip for the initial fixture will be left with a bitter taste in their mouths as they are forced to watch the rescheduled match on TV, it’s fair to say that this clash deserves a full stadium.

Judging by last week’s performance against Italy – the second half in particular – the visitors should give the pre-tournament favourites a real run for their money. This is despite the fact that the French capital has not been a happy hunting ground for the men in green, who have not won at the Stade de France since 2000 (when Brian O’Driscoll scored a famous hat-trick) – their only victory in Paris since 1972.

Nevertheless, with a settled team as well as coming off the back of a big victory over the Azzurri and a narrow loss to an impressive-looking Welsh side, Declan Kidney’s men will believe they can win. And a settled side they certainly are. Kidney has named an unchanged 22 for the third consecutive week and the same XV that was originally picked to face France.

For those Irish supporters who have been calling for change to the ‘aging’ Irish side, it’s worth noting that the average age of France’s starting XV is two years higher than Ireland’s at 29. France field a side with 660 caps while Ireland have marginally less collective experience with 610.

Les Bleus will head into the game with a healthy dose of confidence after two wins under their new coach. Five of France’s XV and nine of the 22-man matchday squad have never lost to Ireland at senior international level.

There will two main concerns for the hosts: first and foremost will be the line-out. The French struggled against both Italy and Scotland in an area that is one of Ireland’s strongest points.

Dimitri Szarzewski has spoken of the need for time to blend the new calls into France’s old system, but they cannot afford to hand over possession cheaply they way they did against Italy or at Murrayfield.

The second issue is what the French like to call l’animation offensive. The wings have touched the ball just 26 times between them in 160 minutes of rugby, a sign of France’s struggle to create movement from structured attack. Granted, they have counter-attacked brilliantly but when faced with a well-organised defence such as Ireland’s, simply living off the opposition’s mistakes will not be enough.

In both regards – line-outs and attacking cohesion – the extra preparation time afforded to the XV de France by the postponement will be seen as a blessing in disguise. Instead of facing Ireland with just two weeks preparation, they have now been together under their new coaches for a month.

One thing that hasn’t changed under the new regime is France’s power at scrum time and the Irish pack will face a stiff challenge if they are compete when ref Dave Pearson calls ‘engage!’… Mike Ross is likely to be targeted by a very experienced French from row. France have won nine consecutive games at the Stade de France, a run stretching back to the 2008 Six Nations. Can Ireland upset the applecart? We’ll find out on Sunday.

Players to watch:

For France: Clermont flank Julien Bonnaire has been promoted to the starting XV ahead of Louis Picamoles, a decision which has sparked great debate. Bonnaire’s height will give France an extra line-out option, which will certainly come in handy. The 33-year-old has admitted he had planned on retiring after the World Cup but couldn’t bring himself to leave the scene on a negative note and is hoping to end his career in Bleu with a Grand Slam. He has never lost to Ireland in six Championship matches. Vincent Clerc wins his 60th cap on Saturday and represents France’s most potent attacking threat against Ireland, having scored five times in his six Championship appearances against Declan Kidney’s men. Those tries against Ireland represent nearly half of Clerc’s total number of tries scored in the Six Nations (eleven).

For Ireland: As the old saying goes, size doesn’t mean everything but Keith Earls has a huge task on his hands in trying to stop Aurélien Rougerie, who is 16kg heavier and 13cm taller than the Munsterman. Earls is a good tackler, but many feel Ireland would be better served by an all-Leinster midfield with Fergus McFadden at thirteen. Earls will know the best way to prove his doubters wrong. The same goes for Conor Murray who has been criticised for the pace at which he serves his backline. He will need a big game to keep Eoin Reddan from taking over.

Head-to-head: Clément Poitrenaud makes his first start for France in the Six Nations since appearing in the 9-17 loss to England one year ago. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes a liability, the Toulouse man’s battle with Rob Kearney could be vital. With Ireland potentially looking for field position to exploit the presumed French line-out fragility, Poitrenaud’s kicking game will be under scrutiny from his opposite number, who has been in sterling form. For fans of big hits, the battle of the back-rows is set to be a highlight of the whole tournament. Harinordoquy-Bonnaire-Dusautoir v O’Brien-Heaslip-Ferris.. .boom, boom, boom!

Previous results:

This weekend’s game is the 90th meeting between the two sides. France have won 56 of those against Ireland’s 29 victories, while there have been five draws.

2003: Ireland won 15-12 at Lansdowne Rd, Dublin
2002:France   won 44-5 at Stade de France, Paris

Prediction: Looking back over the last ten years, these sides have faced each other 14 times and Ireland have claimed victory just twice. France’s home record is very impressive and we feel that they have just a little bit more firepower. France by six points!

WALKING WOUNDED: The Sea Eagles have largely no dramas aside from an achilles injury to Joe Galuvao that will see him miss up to a couple of weeks on the sidelines. The curse of the injured props has also hit the Warriors, with Origin prop Jacob Lillyman and the outstanding Sam Rapira both missing from the front row. Rapira’s brother, Steve, is also out injured and – like his brother – has a shoulder injury that will see them out until possibly Round 4. The Kiwi club will also miss the services of Micheal Luck for almost half the season as he battles shoulder and wrist problems.

FORM: The Sea Eagles have a fine record against the Warriors, securing seven of the last eight matches against the Kiwi club, including two wins in Auckland. Their preseason form, however, hasn’t been that of a team who won the title last year. After going down heavily to Cronulla in their first pre-season match, they travelled halfway across the world for the World Club Challenge, where they lost 12-26 to Leeds. Despite the impressive record of their opponents, it should be the Warriors who enter the match on Sunday as favourites.

WHO’S HOT: It was the biggest battle in the Grand Final and the duel between the two young star playmakers looks set to dazzle the Auckland crowd. Dale Cherry-Evans’ reliable game is nicely matched up against Shaun Johnson’s explosive game – if a try is created, both of these players will be in the thick of it. Steve Matai has always been a handful when the two sides have collided, while Tony Williams’ name in the No.12 jersey will ensure the home side’s defensive game will need to be at its best. Brian McClennan has hailed young Konrad Hurrell – a man who played his first season of league last year with the
NYC-defending Junior Warriors of 2011. His pace and ferocity in the centres has McClennan comparing the young Tongan to team mate, Manu Vatuvei. Expect big things from the youngster.

WE THINK: An emotional Eden Park crowd are in for an absolute scorcher of a match between two of the best young playmakers in the game. It hasn’t been the easiest start for visiting coach Geoff Toovey, while the Warriors’ new coach Brian McClennan has had a stressful time trying to reshuffle an injury-ravaged forward pack. In what should be a closely fought battle, the quality of the home side’s depth in the forward pack, as well as their attack-minded backline, should see them home in an emotional encounter Warriors by 8.
